The first wedding of wedding season. The wedding you look back on at the end of your season and think was a lifetime ago. I always get butterflies before shooting a wedding but they sure get ramped up when it's the first one you've shot in a couple of months. Luckily I was surrounded by wonderful people who made those butterflies flutter away.
Meldrum House was the setting for Rachel and David and I was working alongside good pal James Kelly. Rachel and David are also crazy cat enthusiasts (alongside a plethora of other animals at their home!) so I knew I was in good company.
When it came to producing their Novella Film after the wedding I knew I had to use David's speech. I thought he would go a good one but I had no idea how good. His speech was genuine. It was about how real they were as a couple. No fabricated over the top love story - just two people who met, eventually fell in love and who bicker from time to time (or 'proper barnies' to use David's lingo). I think we can all relate to this.
It was then all tied together with an excellent reading of 'Maybe' from their ceremony. Like David's speech - it doesn't over indulge on the romance but instead looks at the realities of relationships.
Maybe... Love is not about finding the perfect person, it's about learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.'
